Remember it: as It Was on Screen: Film, Nostalgia, and Reimagined Histories

Six Months
Research Focus: Film has been a major part of American culture for over a century now. The film industry generates billions of dollars around the world every year. Films depicting historical events not only remind us of our past, but also show how our society views those past events when the film is produced. How do these depictions of historical events in film affect our societies memory at large of our past? We plan to survey US citizens on if these depictions have altered their view on how history played out.
Project Responsibilities: I will be helping create surveys to see how participants perceive historical discrepancies, and if it changes their view on the past or if it alters their enjoyment of a film. I'll be working with Dr. Benjamin Johnson to create a poster for the project to present at the Research symposium in the Spring.
